As he grew up, Douglas Carley was always in awe of action and martial arts movies. He'd get inspired by characters like Indiana Jones and Batman and reenact scenes from their movies in his living room. A life as a stuntman, however, was always just a fantasy. That is until he happened to catch a show called "This Job's a Trip". Each episode would follow a guy and a girl as they tried out their dream job. The episode Douglas caught was about being a stuntman. Until then he never even considered that there might be a school out there that could teach you this sort of profession. Soon he would trade his trolley to the Land of Make-Believe for an airplane to Kahana's Stunt School in Florida (see "Web Logs" page for more on his experiences there). His first job was as a lifeguard during which time he became certified as a Lifeguard Instructor; an invaluable asset (the best way to learn how to learn is to teach). His teaching experience helped him to learn the basics of the stunt business. Since the school, which he goes back to as often as he can, he's spent time on a couple movies doing some camera and AD work. The stunt work he's done was on Matt Jones’ Day of the Snake where he experienced sqibs and on Kim Kahana's So You Want To Be a Stuntman where he got to do a Fire Gag. When you choose Doug as your stuntman you get someone who is ready for any challenge you've got and learns quickly because of the dedication and attention to detail he applies to everything he does. Constantly trying to improve himself, Doug is always looking for a new skill or talent to master. He is currently improving his Bulgarian and dusting off his High School French. He's learned just a bit of Shao-Lin Kung Fu and hopes to soon take on precision driving, SCUBA diving, bull riding, sky diving, and maybe even swing dancing.
